Here’s a fine example of the mess I’m dealing with.

Harps are notated on a grand staff, just like a piano. The left hand is on the treble clef and the right hand is on the bass clef. One important convention though is that harpists will only use a maximum of four fingers per hand. This makes the display of notes crucial, and although you can show a note on a staff other than the hand it belongs to, you need to make sure that the stems indicate the proper hand. In this example from MuseScore, it looks like the transcriptionist just threw their hands up in confusion.

Here is my interpretation. In this case, I feel it’s important to show the beats alternating between the hands, as this is a 6/8 meter. I’m not sure what the ‘other’ guy was thinking above …
